Taken twice a year on a specific day—most recently the second Friday of January, enrollment numbers are down at Stanley-Boyd.
Covered by superintendent Jeff Koenig at the regular school board meeting Jan. 23, enrollment now stands officially at a K-12 student body head count of 1089, down seven people from September. This translates in turn to a count of 1065.1 in FTE (full time Equivalent) headcount, the difference in part due to pre-kindergarten being counted at 60 percent for enrollment purposes.
“A lot of this depends on when the count is taken,” Koenig said as he shared that the district also had a very transient population in terms of its student body, meaning enrollment numbers could change quick.
In somewhat more upbeat news, district social media got upvoted at the recent Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) conference, attended by board members and commented on at the January meeting.
“They could not stop saying enough good things about our social media,” board member Toni Seidl shared of the WASB conference and how things were seen from outside since the district decided to manage its own online presence as opposed to outsourcing this to a company.
District social media is managed by staff members Kim Goettl and Alison Hermann.
