Second Annual Fall Festival at Chapman Park Sept. 23

The Second Annual Fall Festival is soon to arrive at Chapman Park. Free to the public this Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Fall Festival is the work of the Stanley Community Association, along with many business sponsors.

Part of fundraising efforts for the SCA’s Play Big, Dream Bigger Initiative seeking to bring a new playground and splashpad to Chapman Park, the second annual Fall Festival will have a chili cook off contest from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with $100 cash prize. A pumpkin pie eating contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. “for fun and pride,” per SCA president Kristi Weiland. Interested parties in either the chili cook off or pie eating contest can register at the SCA website, stanleycommunity.us. Sponsors for the festival include Chilson’s in Cadott, Debbie’s on Broadway, IKE International, Firehouse Friends, Harris Family Chiropractic, Amanda Schneider with Edina Reality, and Hansen’s IGA.

Also part of the festival will be a Vendor’s Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that will feature 30 area businesses, including NovaSky Candle Co, Krummies Kreations, Jeany Fay Sweets, Younger Mountain, Where the wild things are, Happily Ever Eve, The craftypeddler, Natalie & Kinsley’s Earrings & Bracelets, Clarke studios, Axessories Plus Sunglasses, Mad City Windows and Bath, Jera Smithworks LLC, Junie Bee’s Flower Farm, Curbside cotton candy, Reit’s Garden Center, The Cheek Boutique, Sunnyside pumpkin patch, J & L Creations, L’BRI Pure n Natural, Ulrich Design Studio, Cake Me Away LLC, Savings Scores, DanceFit with Denise, Life Root Farm & The Painted Photographer, and a number of home crafters as well.

In addition, there will be an Autumn Classic Car Show by Wundrow Auto Repair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., along with inflatables ($5 for an all day bounce pass), a Kids Fun Run at 10 a.m., children’s performer Dave Landau from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., a Zumba demonstration starting at 11:30 a.m., the Bear Creek band from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., A-V Live DJ throughout the day, Bingo from 5 to 7 p.m., a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 5 pm., and 50/50 raffles at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

 The SCA will have chili, hotdogs, and pulled pork sandwiches at the event. There will also be Rosy’s Texas Outpost food truck, Tessy’s popcorn, and Niblet’s Apple Shed. A meat box from Mahr Brothers will be the prize for the last game of bingo.

Donors to the silent auction at the Festival include Marine Credit Union, Forward Bank, Stanley Republican, City of Stanley-camp package, Kayla Allard (hair care & stein package), Advance Auto Parts, a local grandma group, Thorp Supervalu, Treat O’ Clock ice cream bike, and the Stanley Correctional Institution.

“We really appreciate everyone who has helped support our events either through donation, participation, or attendance,” Weiland said. “It’s going to be a great time with something for everyone. Come out and enjoy the day!”
