‘Situation’ at Highway D and Turzneck leads to temporary road block Monday

Call it is three-way stop of sorts, if re- defined. In a case of a hairpin turn that should never have been taken, a semi trailer loaded with materials for a well company just north of Boyd jackknifed and entered the ditch on Highway D Monday, the situation remedied with the arrival of Big Rig Towing and Transport out of Eau Claire, per officer Andrew Holty of the Stanley Police Department. Save minor damage to a storage compartment on the side of the truck, the driver was able to drive the trailer away, once restored to solid asphalt. The area was blocked off in all three directions during “the situation,” as Stanley Police called it on Facebook.

“County Highway D and North Oshkosh Street at Turzneck Road in the Village of Boyd will be closed for some time due to a bit of a situation,” Stanley Police made notice Monday of the area technically within village municipal limits. “We ask that you please avoid this area while the ‘situation’ is being addressed as you clearly will not be able to pass through unless you are a bird, plane, aerial acrobatic, etc.”

Two county plow trucks and a county sheriff’s deputy cruiser were later seen leaving the area around 12:40 p.m., the towing operation to restore traffic flow being successful. A third county highway department pickup truck blocked access for those seeking a back way in 300th Street, later clearing the scene.
