SPOTLIGHT ON Full Gospel Mission Church

Posted

Full Gospel Mission Church began in 1978 and moved to 114 W. Oak Street in Stanley in 2019. When Pastor Harmon Larabee had a health emergency and was unable to continue his pastoral duties, his grandson Michael stepped in. Eventually Michael was voted in as senior Pastor and this June, he will have been the Senior Pastor of Full Gospel Mission Church for 17 years. Michael grew up in the Menomonie area and later married his wife, Jennifer, whom he met at a youth group service in Eau Claire. In 2013, Michael and Jennifer, bought a house in Boyd and now have 7 children ranging in age from one to thirteen years old. Full Gospel Mission Church has been at the current Stanley location for almost 4 years and Pastor Larabee speaks highly of the Stanley community. He says, “I like how so many of the folks know each other. There remains a sense of community in Stanley that you don’t necessarily see in a lot of areas. There’s that tight knit community spirit there that really came out when that tornado blew through.” In addition to being a Pastor. Pastor Larabee is also a full-time software engineer at Menards. When asked what he enjoys the most about his congregation, Pastor Larabee quickly answers, “It’s definitely the people, they are family.” The biggest challenge he faces as a pastor is, “You get multiple ministries going and there’s scheduling. Trying to make sure everyone is being equipped and has the training that they need, remaining encouraged and engaged in whatever they are doing. Trying to raise up leadership and nurture that within people’s lives. That takes investment. Sometimes it’s a bit to juggle trying to build God’s Kingdom and equip people.”

Full Gospel Mission Church is a charismatic Non- Denominational Church whose creed is “Love God, Love People.” At Full Gospel Mission Church they believe that reading and study of the Bible is central to a healthy Christian life. Prayer is a primary means of communication with our Creator. They practice baptism of water by full immersion and believe in Baptism of the Holy Spirit. They also believe that God not only paid our sentence of eternal death in hell, but He has also invited us to become adopted in His Family to share His Spirit.

Every Wednesday, Full Gospel Mission hosts Community Table, where soups, sandwiches and other food items are served at no charge, from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm. Together with other local churches, Full Gospel Mission is planning a tent revival at Yellowstone Trail Park in Thorp for the end of August. Speaking on multiple Churches collaborating for the event, Pastor Larabee explains, “We all have Christ. Jesus is the unifying relationship that makes us all a family.”

Full Gospel Mission Church’s services are Sundays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Youth group is on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Services on Sundays are also live streamed on Facebook. The worship music is a mix of contemporary and traditional with a multi-generational focus.
