Students at St. Joseph Catholic School in Boyd made thirty-eight fleece blankets to donate to children at the Marshfield Clinic Health System. Kim Breuch, a teacher at St. Joseph’s, mentioned that the second through fifth grade students began making the blankets in October and ended up making one blanket for each student at the school. Mary Beth Knoeck, a volunteer fundraising coordinator, from Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield arrived at the school on Monday, December 11th to pick up the completed blankets.
“Blankets like this are amazing,” Knoeck said explaining that the blankets can be used as comfort items for children who come to the hospital or emergency room.
She told the students, “We probably go through hundreds and hundreds of blankets every single year for little kids just like you. These blankets are going to bring tons of smiles to little kids, so I want to say thank you.”
Knoeck remarked that the Marshfield Clinic Health System accepts blankets at any time of the year because the blankets are distributed year-round. Principal Russ Jensen addressed the students thanking them for thinking of others. “As a follower of Jesus, we want to try and help others. Whatever you do for anybody else you are doing for Jesus, you are doing for God,” he said.
