Taking place Saturday Jan. 21 at Otter Lake, the Stanley Rod and Gun Club together with the Otter Lake Booster Club held an ice fishing contest, with the adult contest running from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the kid’s contest by the Booster Club from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As part of the kids fishing contest each kid got a free happy meal courtesy of the Stanley and Thorp McDonalds, with trophies and medallions for large fish as well, courtesy of Adam Smit.
The kids contest saw a warming tent courtesy of Citizen’s State Bank and kid’s fishing bait courtesy of Otter Lake Bait.
As to the adult fishing contest, the Stanley Rod and Gun Club had cash prizes for large fish together with over $5,000 in raffle prizes.
The grand prize was a 2-man Eskimo Sierra Ice Shelter, with everyone having a good time.
Taking first place for the Rod and Gun Club prize board were entries including a bluegill weighing .79 pounds from Tim Goodman; a crappie weighting .95 pounds by Neal Benzschawel; a perch weighting .76 pounds by Kevin Chistore; and a northern pike weighing 4.25 pounds from Matthew Burkholder.
Taking first place for bass in the Rod and Gun Club was Gavin Kamla with a 2.63 round specimen, while Keith Smasal took first place in the walleye category with an 8.19 pound fish.
