Stanley VFW and American Legion members hosted two local Korean War Veterans to tour the historic Landing Ship Tank 325 ship that docked in LaCrosse, WI last week.

Fred Wisnewski and Jack W. Caswell were in line with the Stanley Veterans to tour the ship when they were recognized by a military reenactor dressed as General Patton. The 2 Korean War veterans were presented with medals and escorted up to the front of the line by a cheering crowd.

Wisnewski and Caswell were part of the group of Stanley veterans with their families that traveled to the LaCrosse to take this once in a lifetime tour.

Local Navy Veterans Ed Staib and Megan Wenzel were tour guides upon the ship for the group.

Staib got to try on a vintage helmet and explained what it was like to sleep in a bunk.

Meanwhile Wenzel got to show her 2 young boys what ship life was like, they even got to sit in the seat of an anti-aircraft gunner.

The LST ship was a flat bottom ship that landed troops in France on DDay. LST 325 is the last operational LST ship.

Lucy Seehaver (escorted the Veterans), transportation by James Saunders and the Stanley VFW and American Legion who want to thank all those that supported their fundraising efforts to make this trip possible.
