On July 27th the Thorp Area Fire District was called to a structure fire at an abandoned house at N1216 East Street in Lublin. The Thorp Fire Department then called for assistance from the Owen-Withee/Curtiss, Stanley, and Gilman Fire Departments. During this call, the Thorp Fire Department had another call for a vehicle vs. milk truck accident on Hwy 29 close to Tieman Avenue, where they sent the Owen-Withee/Curtiss and Stanley Fire Chiefs along with Thorp Rescue, three personnel from the Thorp Fire Department, and an Owen ambulance. After they finished at the accident scene, the Departments returned to the Lublin fire where fire personnel stayed for another 2-½ hours. With area fire departments short staffed and under scrutiny, many departments who are looking for new recruits to join their teams and serve their communities, work together to get the job done.
