A early morning fire call at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday, April 12 saw mutual aid response to a machine shed fire, thought to have been struck by lightning.
The property at 20311 County Road S in Colburn is registered to Earl and Diane Stanek on Chippewa County GIS, with mutual aid units responding from Stanley Fire and first responders, as well as Boyd Ambulance and the Cornell and Gilman Fire Departments.
Stanley Fire Chief Ron Patten said there were no injuries or transport, the fire taking place early Sunday morning.
“There were no injuries,” he said. “It was a fully engulfed machine shed fire. Everything in the building was a total loss.” No official cause has been determined for the fire which remains under investigation, with Patten speculating that it was a lightning strike, based on appearance and talking to the owners.
