children at an event put together by their department and the Neillsville public library. +++ While the Greenwood School Board approved a baseball co-op with Loyal, the Loyal School Board voted it down. The co-op idea came up partially because Greenwood and Loyal co-oped for softball.

The big Eleva Broiler Fest 2021 Parade drew a nice crowd.
Contributing to the festive occasion were members of teh Univertity of Wisconsin Marching Band, who roade on a truck bed. Their music provided for a lively entry and a beat everyone in attendance couldn’t help moving to. +++ On Tuesday, June 1, the local fire department was on the scene until 2 a.m. putting out
smaller blazes at teh site of teh former Chicken Chaser’s Bar and Grill in Fall Creek.

The Independence School District is projecting about a $200,000 surplus. Most came from the district spending $75,000 less on co-curricular activities and $190,000 less on operating and maintenance. +++ The Arcadia City Council gave the local Chamber permission to move ahead on placing new “Welcome to Arcadia” signs at four major entries to the city. The projected cost is about $50,000, with the Chamber conducting a fund drive and asking for some city funds towards the project.

The former Gilmanton Cooperative locker plant facility has been converted to Bennett Valley Cheese by Charlie Nelson.
He struck upon the idea during a 2017 motorcycle road trip to Colorado, when he was asked by total strangers if he had brought along Wisconsin cheese curds. The facility is now making yellow and white cheese curds. On Saturday, June 12, a grand opening of the new facility was held. +++ Mondovi rodeo standout Nick Pelke, has qualified to compete in the Collage National Finals
Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, June 13-19. +++ Brent Ellis has opened an Antique Store – Prized Possessions, on the Main Street of Fountain City. After extensive remodeling of the former Corner Store, he has created a charming setting for his new business.
