It was a standard consent agenda approval, but for a detail or two. With motion by Mark Fitzsimmons and seconded by Holly Kitchell, the City of Stanley ovcially has new ovcers, one new library board member and a renewal for another, plus a striking of item J (a picnic license) until due diligence can give a better outline of just what the plan is regarding EMS and other details for a July 2 Independence Day Celebration. With another Council meeting between now and then, details should get ironed out. As things stand delineated in the application, fireworks will be profession ally administered by Shawn Moretti in a fenced ou area at Fandry Park, while public parking, food, water and beer will be available across the water towards the Stanley Community Center area. Moretti is fully licensed and insured for the administration of fireworks display shows.
As to police department news, meanwhile, there are two new ovcers, one full-time and another part-time. James Dixon has been hired part-time pending successful completion of otherwise standard background, vision, physical, and drug screening checks, while Matthew Danielson has been hired as a full-time ovcer with the Stanley Department.

the D.R. Moon Library Board has one new member and one renewal, with Marge Konik and Amanda Schneider being appointed by Mayor Haas to three-year terms.
“She’s replacing Cheryl Kern-Simirenko,” D. R. Moon library director Elizabeth Miniatt said of Schneider’s as a new appointment by the Mayor, then saying that Konik had replaced Sandi Thorson, Konik’s three-year term otherwise up, but for the renewal.
In other consent agenda news, the Council approved a Special Vending Permit for the Stanley Lions Watermelon Fest to be held July 31 at Chapman Park, as well as a picnic license for a private graduation party to be held June 25.
Closing out approvals from the June 6 consent agenda, meanwhile, was an operator’s (bartending) license for Hailey Crandall at Reclaimed Tavern on North Broadway, along with the Common Council and Personnel and Zoning Committee minutes from May 16, while the Board of Review minutes from May 19 were also approved.
