Want a job that pays $19.50 per hour starting, with bi-week- ly paychecks?
If that describes you, the U.S. Postal Service at Stanley could be your next career stop, starting with a Nov. 8 job fair from 9 am. To 3 p.m. at the Stanley Post Office, located at 111 East First Avenue in Stanley.
Constitutionally mandated per Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, the Postal Service is currently looking to fill Assistant Rural Carrier and Rural Carrier Associate posi tions. Applicants must be 18 years old and able to pass both drug screening and a criminal background check, and be able to work weekends and holidays. So what might interested par- ties do if hired?
There’s a job posting for that. Rural Carrier Associates (RCAs) are responsible “for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of the U.S. Mail," per job posting, working part time for regular carriers when the latter have days off or take vacation days. Additional duties are selling stamps, supplies, and money orders, with RCAs able to bid for full time regular carrier work after one year of continuous service. A vehicle and “excellent driving skills” are among the requirements for RCAs, with Postal Exam 474 necessary as well.
Assistant Rural Carriers (ARCs) are similar to RCAs in job description and work relief for regular postal workers on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, but without the chance to work directly into a career position as with an RCA post.
Those interested in either posting can attend the Nov. 8 job fair at the Stanley Post Office to hear more. With competitive wages and benefits and opportunities for career advancement, the Postal Service could just be your new career.
