The Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross collected 51 units of blood on Thursday, October 8, falling short of the goal of 58. There were 11 deferrals, 8 power red donations, 3 walk-ins and a couple of donors who filled appointment slots, 2 first time donors, and 35 whole blood donations. There were several cancellations due to not feeling well.
Please be reminded that blood is still needed even though the status is no longer consider crisis. There is always a need for blood, especially in these remaining months before winter begins. All donors are needed to help keep an adequate blood supply.
Those assisting with this drive were the City of Stanley who allowed the use of the Community Center for the drive, FFA Alumni for donating cheese sticks for every drive, registration volunteers, the volunteers who donated the “goodies”, canteen volunteer Norm, Mary and Joyce for calling and recruiting donors, Charlotte for helping coordinate appointments, the Red Cross staff, and all the donors who came in to donate. All of you helped to make this drive possible.
Upcoming Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drives will be Monday, December 21, 2026, Monday, March 15, 2027, Thursday, May 20, 2027, and Thursday, August 12, 2027 all drives being 12 to 6 pm.
Appointments can be made for these drives by calling Donella at 715-644-3638, Mary Endru at 715-644-2165, Red Cross at 800-733-2767, or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
