A car fire on Highway 29 Wednesday, Feb. 26 has left a vehicle scrapped, but without loss of life.
The fire, which took place at mile marker 99 east of Boyd, was first noticed from the engine.
“The people were driving along and noticed the car smoking,” Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire Chief Ron Patten shared Monday. “They pulled off to the side of the road and there were flames coming from under the hood.”
Called in at 9:58 a.m., the car was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Two female passengers were transported to Aspirus Stanley for smoke inhalation, Patten said.
The car fire, handled from the police end by Chippewa County, saw assistance from Stanley Police as well.
“We went out there and assisted with people on scene,” Stanley Police officer Andrew Holty shared. Holty said that in cases of total loss a report would document but not necessarily have more information, the fire’s cause being unknown.
