Above, Our Savior’s Lutheran celebrated 140 years as a church congregation Sunday, August 10, with church tours held on Saturday, August 9. The congregation held two services on Sunday with a special program in between recounting the congregation’s history, from Foldalen Norway, to Stanley, Wisconsin. A dinner was held after the 11 a.m. service in the downstairs kitchen. Our Savior’s takes its origin from two Norwegian Lutheran congregations that were separate on account of different interpretations of certain Bible passages, later combining as one at the church on Fourth Avenue. Emphasizing the people as church, Our Savior’s Lutheran takes as its mission to “spread God’s Living Word with love and compassion unconditionally to all people,” sending many congregation members into mission work over the years.
