We have had a very busy few weeks here at the library since we opened our doors to the community on October 5th. In fact, we may have broken a record for our library on Tuesday when we welcomed 99 visitors in a single day. During the first week, we received 357 total visitors and checked out 796 items. We also had 22 people sign up for a library card during our first week, which may be another record for our library! We been so happy to welcome so many new and familiar faces into our restored and expanded library space.
We are hosting a Grand Opening of our restored and expanded library on November 7th at 2PM to celebrate this historic moment for our library and our community. The success of the library’s building project is years in the making and would not have been possible without the generous support of so many. Please join us in celebrating both the history and future of our library on November 7th!
Since we opened on October 5th, library staff have been hard at work organizing all of our supplies and programming materials, putting the collection away, and settling into the new space. A few construction activities have been on-going as well during October, including the completion of the patio at the front of the building! We do appreciate everyone’s patience during these weeks as Hoeft wraps up their work here.
Please note our new library hours, including Saturdays. We are open:
Monday 8AM-6PM
Tuesday 10AM-6PM
Wednesday 10AM-6PM
Thursday 10AM-8PM
Friday 10AM-6PM
Saturday 10AM-12PM
Regular library programs are starting in November as well! Our weekly Storytime is every Monday at 10:30AM and Girls Who Code is on the first Thursday of the month from 4PM-6PM. The book club is reading The Lumber Baron’s Wife by Lynn Austin and will meet on November 5th at 2PM to discuss the book.
Check out our new Learning Day series, focusing on STEM learning, discovery, and hands-on fun with a different theme each month. October’s Learning Day was on Thursday, the 22nd at 11AM and featured a live owl visit and nature talk with a Naturalist from Beaver Creek Reserve as well as an owl pellet dissection lab!
Comfort Corner, our special memory café program was on October 28th at 10AM and featured mini horses from Holly’s Place! These special little horses, along with their handlers, will be stopping by to share the joy, comfort, and connection that horses can bring. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the minis, spend some time with them, and experience firsthand how interacting with animals can bring smiles, reduce stress, and create meaningful moments of connection.
