Elroy Dean Leja

Elroy Dean Leja of Hol combe, Wisconsin, passed away at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Friday, May 20, 2022, his 83rd birth day, following a brief battle with leukemia. He was born in Stanley, Wisconsin, on May 20, 1939, to Frank and Bertha (Saheim) Leja. Elroy grew up in Stanley and graduated from Stanley High School in 1957. Following graduation from high school, Elroy relocated to the Twin Cities where he was employed by West Publish- ing. He eventually returned to the Stanley area and joined his parents on the family farm, purchasing his own herd of dairy cows, while helping with the family herd. In 1959, El – roy decided to give city life another try and moved to Mil waukee where he worked in construction operating heavy equipment for years on many area highways. He eventual –

ly settled in Holcombe, hav ing purchased a dairy farm in the late 1960s. Elroy contin ued farming for many years, eventually moving on to other

occupations including driving school bus for the Lake Hol – combe School District, driving charter bus, and investing in rental properties.

Elroy is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ber- tha Leja. He is survived by his 6 chil –

dren, Katherine (Neil) Red laczyk of Tacoma, Washington, Joseph Leja, Wausau, Wiscon – sin, Tina Leja, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tamara (Brendan) Hinnenkamp, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Gregory (Kimber- ly) Leja, and Loanda (Jake) Morrow, Shakopee, Minne- sota; his 8 grandchildren, Ca – mille Gomez, Chrystal (Jose) Aguilera, and Blaze (Syarifa) Redlaczyk, Joseph and Ol – ivia Hinnenkamp, Jaymeson and Aubrey Leja, and Addi –

son Morrow, 6 great-grand children, Tristan Redlaczyk, Orion Aguilera, Isabela Aguil –

era, Beevianna Aguilera-Red laczyk, Ellianna Aguilera, and Tatum Aguilera; his sister, Corrine Randall of Cornell, Wisconsin, nephews, cousins, as well as his longtime friend, Leila Krzanowski. A service will be held at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm with the service at 12:00pm. Lunch will follow at the American Le – gion Hall located at 309 South Second Street, Cornell, Wisconsin.

Elroy will be remembered for his quick wit, his fabulous sense of humor, and how he loved to laugh until he cried. We are thankful for the time we were able to spend with him during his final days sharing in that laughter. Love you, Dad.
