Stanley-Boyd Schools has a new proposed school levy, pending ratification at the hearing Oct. 26 at 8:00 p.m.
The new proposed school levy of $5.32 per thousand in equalized property value represents a slight drop in mill rate from last year, when the levy was set at $5.382 per thousand.
The mill rate as proposed looks to raise $4,441,332 in local revenue, supplemented by state and federal aid to make the overall school budget.
Also from Monday, the board members reviewed the first reading of Neola policy updates, received a construction update, and updated the address for Healthstyles LLC in its administrative rule on pre-employment screening physicals. The board also updated its administrative rule on concessions to reflect administration of concessions by the Stanley-Boyd High School Student Council.
Neola policy updates will have their second reading at next month’s school board meeting, while the construction update reported that the new entrance was to be handed over to the district that week, even as work continues on the office portion.
As for routine policy review, the board reviewed SL 8 Asset Protection, finding the district in compliance. Board members also reviewed documents on vehicle age and mileage, bus inspection reports, disposal of items, and boiler inspection reports, along with liability and property insurance. New hires include Rebecca Crandall as a cook and Brandon Heifner as a paraprofessional, with retirements include Shannon Gilles as a teacher. Discharges and resignations include Gretta Layman as middle school track coach and Frank Stauber as a driver, while Tom Hause was hired as a middle school boys basketball coach and Justin McManus will return as a volunteer assistant wrestling coach.
Closing out the update from Monday school board, members approved a parking lot construction management agreement with CESA 10, all present voting in favor with the exception of Lance Carlson, who abstained. Carlson is on the board of CESA.
The parking lot management agreement comes as the district plans to redo the south parking lot next year, adjusting the island to go straight out and resurfacing the parking area.
Stanley-Boyd School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month in the high school library, with agendas posted to the school website beforehand under the district and board of Education tabs. The public is invited to attend.
