Adam Duane Buck

Adam Duane Buck, 22 of Stanley, died on April 28, 2022 in Colorado after being struck by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle. He was born on October 12, 1999 in Wausau, WI, the son of Justin and Amy (Gammelin) Buck. Adam was adopted on October 26, 2015 by Sara (Gammelin) Henzl and Joe Henzl.

Adam graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in May of 2018, enlisted in the Army and graduated from basic training with honors.

He did his advanced training in Arizona as an unmanned aircraft operator, graduating top of his class. He most recently served as an unmanned aircraft instructor in Special Forces, was Airborne quali –

fied, and served a tour over seas.

Adam had a passion for life with an adventurous spirit. He was wise beyond his years. His love for the outdoors began at a young age with scouting, camping, hunting, and fishing. In high school he was active in football and wrestling. He continued his love of the outdoors in Colorado with white water rafting, hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing and camping. He was a true outdoorsman and loved the mountains.

Adam had the brightest smile and the most contagious laugh. The obstacles he overcame did not deter him from inspiring others. His genuine personality, kind heartedness, hard work, and dedication embodied how a young person can lead a meaningful and joyful life. He was a true friend and mentor to many and wanted to make the world a better place. He was loved and respected by many members of his school, church, and military communities.

His love will live on in the lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving family; his parents, Joe and Sara Henzl, Justin Buck and Amy (Gary) Swendby, his brothers, Slade Henzl and Brandon Buck, his sister, Caitlyn Buck, his grandparents, Duane Buck, Paul Gam- melin, Jean Anderson (Dale Nicely) and Esther Henzl, his great grandmother, Lorraine Buck, an aunt, Celeste (Ben) Hasbrouck and uncles, Jason (Sara) Buck and Jeremy (Divine) Buck, and many cous- ins. Adam is preceded in death by his grandparents, Barb Schmidt and Charles Henzl, great grandparents, Les and Ruth Anderson, Waldemar and Dorothea Gammelin, By- ron Buck and Arthur and Lois Schmidt.

Funeral services were 11AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Our Savior’s Luther an Church-Stanley with Pastor Ken Schmidt and Pastor Paul Gammelin ovciating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery-Stanley. Visitation was from 4-8 PM on Monday at the Plombon Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
