We welcome back Tracks and Trails from the Outdoors with Al Brown.

Al has again agreed to write outdoor articles for the Stanley Republican. A great portion of Brown’s writing will contain items of local outdoor interest and statewide conservation issues.

Brown serves as a delegate to the Wisconsin Conservation Congress where he’s represented Chippewa County the past 17 years. He served nine years as a representative to the Congresses Executive Council and formerly chaired such study committees as Wolf, Endangered Resources, Law Enforcement, and 10 Year Fish and Wildlife Plan. He also represented the Conservation Congress on the Department of Natural Resources Walleye Committee when former Governor Walker’s Walleye Initiative Plan was implemented. Currently he represents the Congress on The Warm Water (Inland Waters) Study Committee.

Throughout the years Brown has been appointed to represent various Wisconsin DNR Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Committees. He currently serves Chippewa County as a Representative to the Chippewa Valley Chronic Wasting Disease Advisory Council serving as Vice Chairman. Brown is serving his third term on the Chippewa County Deer Advisory Council appointed by the DNR representing outdoor organizations.

Locally Brown has spearheaded a number of Learn to Turkey Hunt Programs and is a certi- fied DNR Hunter Safety Instructor. He is also a member of the Stanley Sportsman’s Club where he serves as Secretary.
