Andrea Mahr wins High Five Award for December

The December High Five Award was presented to Andrea Mahr, an elementary teacher at Stanley Boyd School. She was nominated for her work with Camp Read S’more. Mrs. Mahr and a dedicated team work to bring books to various locations in Stanley and Boyd for students to enjoy reading all summer long. The team plans fun themes for the kids to dress up and gets prizes for the kids to earn while reading each week. The nominator that submitted Mrs. Mahr and the Camp Read S’more team had this to say in their nomination form “Camp Read S’more is such a great addition to the summer; it is something my daughter looks forward to each week! It is fun how they have prizes and things for the kids each week. Also I can imagine setting up and taking down at all the different locations is a lot of work and I appreciate that they make books accessible all summer long and they make it fun for the kids!” On behalf of the Stanley Community Association and Martino’s Restaurant we thank you for your dedication to the school and the city of Stanley—thank you for coordinating a fun event for kids and adults to rally around the excitement of reading! Members of the community are encouraged to nominate a fellow community member for next month’s award by filling out a nomination form available at our website www. stanleycommunity.us, visiting our Facebook page or pick up a nomination form at Martino’s Restaurant, Harris Family Chiropractic or Reclaimed Tavern. Winner receives the High Five Award certificate and a Martino’s Restaurant gift card.
