The Stanley Area Historical Society (SAHS) held their 2024 Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 18. In a surprise announcement Betty Plombon made known that the historical society will be coming out with another new publication titled, “Only in Stanley,” in the summer of 2025. It will contain research on early Stanley History covering four major topics and is expected to answer some long standing questions that many people have often asked. The four major topics will include: 1.) Why two Catholic parishes in early Stanley? 2.) The story of prohibition in Stanley. 3.) Why no movies or park performances in Stanley on Sunday? 4.) The activities of the Ku Klux Klan in Stanley. The stories will come from the extensive research Plombon has conducted over the past 40 plus years she has been associated with the historical society.
