Archie L. Freeman, 81 of Stanley, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from natural causes. He was born on October 12, 1941 in Avalon, Missouri the son of the late Kenneth and Delores (Williams) Freeman. Archie grew up in Belvidere with eleven siblings. He joined the Marine Corps and served from 1958-1964. From there he worked construction with Anderson and Dashney in Belvidere, IL and with numerous other construction companies.

He married Joyce Kosar on March 28, 1987 in Irene, Illinois. The couple moved to Stanley and have been here since. He loved fishing and enjoyed reading, cooking, listening to music, drinking a beer with family and friends. Archie was a member of the Stanley American Legion. He will be missed by many.

Archie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joyce, two sons, Shannon of Stanley and Robert (Eve Simonsen) Freeman of Leesville, South Carolina, two grandchildren, Archie Freeman and Serenity O’Neal, his sisters, Rose (Fred Stewrer) Lind of Garden Prairie, IL, Carol (Lee) Raymond and Mary (Ronald) Popham both of Belvidere, IL, his brothers, Pat (Ruthann) Freeman and Mike Freeman both of Belvidere, IL, many nieces and nephews and his close friend, Joe Karlen. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Phil, Terry, Harry, Robert and Larry and a sister, Susie McKenna.

A memorial service will be at 4PM on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Plombon Funeral Home with military rites to follow. Visitation will be from 2:30 PM until time of service.
