A Stanley-Boyd volleyball player has a new record. Junior Setter and Right Side Hitter Bailey Sikora has passed the milestone for 1,000 assists. Achieved against Owen-Withee in this year’s crossover game, recognition of the achievement came at Cadott Tuesday, Oct. 22 as the Orioles moved into their first postseason game. Orioles Volleyball Head Coach Karley Wiensch shared more on Sikora’s achievement.
“Bailey has been a varsity setter for the last two seasons,” Wiensch said. “She currently has 1,089 assists in her career. Bailey is only a Junior and will probably reach another milestone next year as well. She is the floor captain for the team and works very hard at her position. She reached 1,000 assists when we played Owen-Withee at the Cloverbelt crossover game. I wanted to recognize her, even though we did not have a home playoff game. I reached out to Cadott’s head coach (Lynn) and asked if it was okay that we recognized her at the game. She agreed and wanted to recognize her Junior setter as well. Both #10 Karlee Davis (Cadott) and #2 Bailey Sikora (Stanley-Boyd) were recognized prior to the start of the game.”
As for the Orioles generally, they finish the season this year with a 2-4 conference record and 17-19 overall. Defeating Cadott in three sets (25-17, 25- 21, 25-23) to advance in the playoffs, they fell to Stratford on Thursday, Oct. 24 in four sets, ending their playoff run. The team graduates four seniors this year, these being Middle Hitter: Syleen Seichter, Right Side Hitter Aaliyah Allard, Right Side Hitter Emma Pawlak, and Libero Lauren Potaczek
