School Board given main entrance update

The Stanley-Boyd Area School Board got a look at the new main entrance on Monday, Aug. 17, while also approving plans for a new building for Open Doors at North Broadway.
Meeting in a special meeting in the high school library at 6:30 p.m., the board briefly toured the south end of the school entry, getting a look at the steel and concrete of the new entryway. Members were told the metal framework and curb were in, with roof decking started on Monday. Entry will be through Door 1 while work continues on the main entry, with school starting Aug. 20. Earlier appearance before the board by Hoeft places the entryway completion later this fall, with handoff to the school in October.
Also covered Monday, the board approved bids and a plan for a new Open Doors building, awarded to Heartland Construction of Cadott for a cost not to exceed $306,000. Board members took turns looking over plans for the 28x60 foot building. Bids were obtained from Heartland Construction and Keith Schneider, a third bid by Design Homes being withdrawn on project specs. The new building will be slab on grade with in-floor heating, an alternate bid for a basement deemed not necessary by the board. No set timetable was given on construction time, the idea to get things underway as soon as possible.
