If that’s you, we’ve got news. The long awaited first installment of a Chapman to Oriole Park bike trail is now completed, with work on the 1,250-foot section from Fourth Avenue to Oriole Park done by Haas Sons Inc and costing approximately $15,000.

First approved with a 5-4 vote by the Stanley Council after a public hearing in Spring 2022, the trail is being spearheaded by the Stanley Lions and Community Association, looking to use existing roads and new trail to provide a safe route to school and exercise as well. With grant money existing to improve but not to start bike trails in the state, the current work is being paid from donations. Readers interested in donating to this continued important work can send bike trail donation funds to the Stanley Community Association or contact Lion Jim Jones at 715-703-3089.

“We fully intend to continue building,” Jones shared over the weekend on the trail, expressing the view that biking was gaining traction in the area.

“I think young people and families are finding that biking is a good pastime,” he said of the leisure sport. With continued support and effort, the dream will become reality.
