It’s fun to come to the baseball park right now.” That’s how Orioles head coach Ryan Sturm describes the present state of Oriole baseball.
Winning against McDonell 10-7 at Casper Park May 3 after logging wins against Regis April 30 and May 2, the Oriole boys varsity stands at 6-8 for the season.
Starting in the first inning with loaded bases leading to a four run lead against McDonell, the Orioles followed this up in the second with an additional three runs, Bringing the score 7 - 0 Stanley-Boyd. With the Orioles scoreless in the third, McDonell answered back with five runs of its own, before single runs by the Orioles in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to just two total for McDonell brought the score 10-7 for the final.
Earlier in the week, meanwhile, the game against Regis April 30 came out 8-2, also in the Orioles favor, it following a loss to Loyal 14-18.
Followign up with a second game against Regis May 2, the run count by Stanley-Boyd again topped the Ramblers, the Orioles scoring in the second, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, for a 7-4 finish in Stanley-Boyd’s favor.
As for incidental and individual team stats, JJ Heller has 42at bats, followed by Parker Krizan with 40. Following Krizan is Eli Hazuga with 37, while Haydn Gustafson has 35 at bats. As for batting averages, the Orioles are led at present by Alex Williams with .400, while Heller comes in at .500 followed by Ethan Sowieja with .524. Gustafson is next with .314.
The Orioles next play Cadott Thursday at Stanley-Boyd Oriole Park. Game start is 5:00 p.m.
