Three court gym, classrooms in plan
Diuerent. That, perhaps, is the most succinct way to describe plans for the north side and elsewhere at Stanley-Boyd ou Fourth Avenue after LHB Architects of Superior appeared at the April 19 Board Conver – sation to share its vision of what Stanley-Boyd could look like in years to come.
No decision was taken at the April Board Conversation, such meetings merely a venue to discuss and enacted after citizen feedback on board governance.
That said, there are some details. In the first place, plans for the north side as pro – posed by LHB would see the removal of one entrance/
exit way from Fourth Avenue to make two in place of three, along with the removal of old trees and addition of new ones. Additionally, the plans call for creation of both stau and bus parking-but not student or par – ent-along the north side, with some green space in front of the current Green House.
While buses could enter the slanted parking lanes in any fashion according to LHB architect Kevin Holm, the one further east, number 11 per the draw –
ing, would have to be the first to leave.
As to the school’s south side, plans as proposed Monday night call for a gym space with three basketball court size spaces, two for basketball and one to

host two wrestling mats.
The proposal also calls for a classroom remodel with kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classrooms each grouped together in three separate areas, plus creation of a future elementary ovce from two cur rent kindergarten classrooms.
This in turn would involve the exten sion of a present corridor to the south so as connect with a current event entrance that would become the new elementary entrance.
As to bathrooms, the proposal calls in part for a space with separate boys and girls areas partitioned by a wall, with separate exits to a shared front sink space.
Also included in the proposal as unveiled at the Board Conversation from Monday is more and additional space for special edu- cation and RTS space, plus a moved music area and classrooms with glass areas This, Holm said, would facilitate passive observation of the hallways by stau in case intervention was needed while also bringing more light.
Check back in next week for updates on the art and music spaces, along with more details and full visual on what a remodel would entail.
