T-ball field taking shape at Lotz Park, funding needed for fence
Masks are back at the Boyd Village Hall, at least for now and if you so choose.
In a reversal of the summer’s de facto policy with cold weather in the continuing forecast moving into winter, all four members of the Boyd Village Board were covered up in facial cloth, while a most important decision presented itself Monday night: trick or treat, or not.
“I think if we don’t set hours people think it’s not happening,” Trustee Sarah McQuillan shared her thoughts on public perception and board action. Clerk Sandi Isaacs brought up the recent decision by Stanley to do what it had done the year prior (by not setting hours but now 5 – 7 p.m.), and in the end Boyd went its own way, with hours this October 31 set from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In the meantime, it may be time to hire a feline officer for mouse patrol, as Casey Dorn reported that there were signs of mice in the police vehicle. With cold weather on the approach, making a comfy home out of the elements isn’t just something on human minds–the difference being that mice can cause unwanted damage to vehicle parts.
At the same time, the police vehicle isn’t going into the Streets and Utilities garage, with the acronym DOA (Department of Administration) coming up in discussion as one hurdle to cross on the matter.
“It’s been talked about for 20 years,” Tom Grunewald told the board of parking the police vehicle in the building. “Not gonna happen.”
Last but not least a T-ball field is set to take shape at Lotz Park, with a need for drain tile, black dirt, and lime from the Cities before things are done. Board members also expressed the need for a fence near the back on Highway D, though the project is likely due to take place in stages, rather than all at once.
For the immediate present then, remember this: trick or treat is 4 p.m .to 6 p.m. in Boyd this October 31.
