Boys golf hampered by snow on ground

“Not much yet,…” boys golf coach Devon Wenndt shared of the season recently. “Too much snow on the ground to get much done.”

With 15 golfers in total this year, the team is returning two seniors from varsity lineup last year, these being Isaac Brenner and Dominic Raffetto. Also returning are several on the bottom portion of the varsity rotation.

“I’m very eager to see how those final three varsity spots shake out, as we have 6-8 more who seem capable,” Coach Wenndt said. “We simply haven’t been able to get outside yet, however.  We have not been very fortunate with regards to the weather thus far, so hopefully that situation comes to an end soon.  It’s looking like, just as we did last year, the first time we have our golfers outside is when they are teeing it up in competition.  We’ll have to hit the ground running, as we have to make it through a tough regional if we want to play in our sectional at Lake Wissota, a golf course that we know very well.  In the meantime, we have been making as much as we can out of our indoor practice time.  Huge thanks to Coach Larry Norrell for all the work he is putting in with our boys.  We have a relatively full schedule once the snow decides to melt, and we are all eager to get started.”
