The Stanley-Boyd Oriole Boys Golf season is under way after a year off because of the covid restrictions. The varsity started the season at the Osseo Golf Course with Mason Felmlee the team medalist shooting a 49. Isaac Brenner followed with a 50, Garrett Sonnentag 50, Dominic Raffetto 52 and Sasha Nitz 57.

On Monday April 26th, the Oriole golfers were at the Princeton Vallley Golf Course for their second conference match. Sophomore Isaac Brenner was the team medalist shooting a 45, followed by Senior Mason Felmlee 47, Sophomore Dominic Raffetto 49. Junior Sasha Nitz and Junior Garrett Sonnentag each shooting 58.

Medford Golf Course was the third Oriole test where the weather conditions took their toll on all of the teams as the wind and cold played a role with the scores. Isaac Brenner again was team medalist with a 50. Junior Sasha Nitz also turned in a 50, Dominic Raffetto 54, Mason Felmlee 55 and Junior Austen Seichter 73.

On Friday April 30th the Oriole golfers played in an 18-hole event at Bloomer Golf Course. Isaac Brenner came through with a 90, followed by Mason Felmlee 94, Sasha Nitz 104, Dominic Raffetto 121 and Keegan Peterson 133.

The Oriole Junior Varsity started their season at Hickory Hils Golf Course on April 22nd. The individual scores were: Ashton Mercier 53, Joey Henderson 58, Andri Burzynski 60, and Keegan Peterson 62. On April 26th, the JV Golf team had an event at Lake Wissota Golf Course. Andri Burzynski shot a great 61 under the wind and cold conditions. Austen Seichter followed with a 64, Keegan Peterson 68, Ashton Mercier 70, and Joey Henderson 77.

The third match was held at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott. With a depleted team, the four team member scores were; Keegan Peterson 54, Ashton Mercier 62, Joey Henderson 69, and Andri Burzynski 73.

“We just have not found our self as an individual. We are improving but it takes a lot of practice to repeat and develop a consistent swing,” said Golf Coach Larry Norrell.

Having recently come off a Varsity Invitational Eau Claire along with play at Meadowview Country Club, the Orioles Boys Golf players are next scheduled to play a JV match Thursday May 13th at Osseo Golf Club, with a Varsity Invitational scheduled for Saturday May 15 at Whispering Pines Golf Course at Cadott.
