The boys golf season continues at Stanley-Boyd, the varsity playing Whispering Pines and junior varsity playing Lake Wissota this past week.
Varsity golf scores at Whispering Pines Thursday saw sophomore Brenner Myers with 42, sophomore Carsen Woodcock with 47, junior Ryan Starck with 48, senior Landen Fredrickson with 51, and freshman Derrick Lato with 53. Overall team score for varsity was 188.
JV golf scores at Lake Wissota saw senior Connor Goebel with 43, senior Carter Ketterhagen with 53, freshman Draven Harris with 62, and freshman Reid Yeast with 75. Overall team score for junior varsity was 158. Orioles Head Golf Coach Devon Wenndt shared more after the scores were tallied.
“Not too much different to say than last week,” Wenndt said. “There was a definite step up in our level of play at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax on Wednesday (4/23), so that was encouraging to see. Maybe it was simply playing in the nice weather…”
“A lot of our 9 hole conference play is behind us, but all of our 18 hole conference matches still lie in front of us. We certainly have some work to do before we get to Bloomer this Friday (5/2). Ultimately the goal is for every player to improve, and Coach Norrell and I have absolutely seen that manifest itself. The focus going forward needs to be on avoiding those costly mistakes which are avoidable by good decision making. In my mind, that’s where we need the most growth.”
