It was a good sectional for three Stanley-Boyd wrestlers Saturday at St. Croix Falls.

Alexander "Sasha" Nitz made it to State in the 120-pound weight class, while Breckin Burzyns – ki did the same in the 126-pound weight class. Troy Trevino took fourth in the 132-pound weight class, just short of qualifying for State, after a hard fought match against Gabe Knops. Stanley-Boyd Coach Greg Burzynski shared some thoughts on the three finishes at Saint Croix Falls and what lies ahead for each wrestler as an individual.

"We just competed at Sectionals, our team is done," Burzynski said of Stanley-Boyd wrestling for 2021-22, then going on. "We have two individual state qualifiers: Senior Sasha Nitz at 120 and Sophomore Breckin Burzynski at 126." As to individual performance by the wrestlers at Saint Croix Falls, Coach Burzynski said of Nitz that, "Sasha put together a very good day of wrestling. Going in, we knew the quarterfinal was a must-win because of the way sectional brackets work. He went out aggressively and worked for the quick pin," .Burzynski said of the Stanley-Boyd senior.

Final results show that Nitz won over Joey Baker of Durand by Fall in 1:38. Meanwhile, there was more work to do, as Burzynski related.

"He (Nitz) had a tough semifinal loss to the returning state champion last year and then battled back to the third-place match," Burzynski said of the Stanley-Boyd senior with a 19-9 record this season. "He beat Logan Harel from Cadott in the match to go to state. This is the same kid he lost to the last two weeks in the conference third-place match and the regional finals," Burzynski said. Nitz then had an overtime loss in the true second match to Josh Davidsaver from Saint Croix Falls 7-3, finishing in second place for the day's competition.

As to the other state qualifier from Stanley-Boyd, Breckin Burzynski, Coach Burzynski said that,

"Breckin really wrestled well today. It is tough to start off the tournament with a kid he lost to earlier in the year in overtime. He was well prepared and showed a lot of mental toughness throughout the day. He was really tested but beat three ranked guys in what was one of the tougher brackets at this sectional." Starting off in the quarterfinals by defeating Kaden Clark of Saint Croix Falls to avenge an early season loss by winning 4-2 against Clark. The Stanley-Boyd sophomore with a 28-6 match record this year going on to defeat Clayton Roscoe of Ladysmith in the semifinals by Fall in 5:03, before wrestling Mitchell Anderson of Clear Lake and Brayden Sonnentag of Cadott to come out in second place overall for the day.

As to Trevino's performance, Coach Burzynski shared that, "Troy has been very fun to watch this year. He is an explosive, physical wrestler and is really starting to develop and improve in all three positions of wrestling.”

As to results from Saturday at Saint Croix Falls, Trevino (27-12) started off the day with an 11-5 decision over Daniel Adomaitis from Phillips. He then lost in the semifinals to Mason Will from Saint Croix Falls by major decision 10-0. In the consolation semifinals, meanwhile, the Stanley-Boyd sophomore major decisioned Matthew Poulos from Whitehall 18-5, thereby earning himself a spot in the third-place match. It was there that Trevino lost a tough-fought 8-1 decision to Gabe Knops from Glenwood City to finish fourth, just short of qualifying for the state tournament. With time left to graduation, though, Trevino is someone to watch.

tle senior Pierson Potrykus (44-7) from Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Wrestling will start at 7:15pm.
