Bus drivers put through paces

Stanley-Boyd Bus Drivers had their inaugural bus road-e-o last week with outstanding success. The Bus Road-e-o idea was taken from APTA webpage and based off of an annual competition that is put on at different locations throughout the United States. The course was set up for school buses with different obstacles set up to imitate different skills the drivers would use on a daily basis. The course was based on the national competition with a score card being used to track all drivers as they went through the course. There is a maximum of 460 points and no driver scored lower than 410, placing them all in the “Exemplary” range. That is an outstanding accomplishment!

Score Card Ranges
Exemplary 400-460
Proficient 340-399
Needs Development 200-339
Ineffective 0-199

Had anyone scored lower than 400 they would have been retrained and run through the course again to make sure they were confident with their abilities.
I am so proud of every driver! They did an outstanding job driving the buses on a very tough course. We did have a tie between Bruce Brunner and Gary Miller at the end of the competition. We had a tie-breaking run, in which Bruce and Gary drove the serpentine backward with the bus. They were still tied. The next tie breaker we timed the drivers doing the serpentine backwards. It was very close but Gary Miller was the winner. Congratulations and I look forward to a great year transporting the kids to and from school.
