Camp Read S’more kicks off Summer with rainy Beach Day

Posted

Camp Read S’more officially launched its summer season on June 12th with a Beach Day event, bringing a splash of summer fun—despite the rainy weather. Encouraging attendees to wear their best beach gear, the bookmobile crew rewarded those who dressed the part with an “Oriole Buck,” a fun token redeemable for prizes. Even though the skies were gray and rain fell throughout the day, spirits remained high as families and kids gathered to celebrate the start of summer reading.
Now in its 11th year, Camp Read S’more continues to promote literacy and community connection through weekly bookmobile visits—with a fun new theme each week to keep the excitement going. Every Thursday, the bookmobile makes stops at four locations:
• 9:00–10:35 AM – Boyd Early Learning Center
• 11:00–11:45 AM – Firehouse Friends Childcare Center
• 12:00–1:30 PM – Stanley-Boyd School
• 1:45–3:30 PM – Homeplace Parking Lot Pavilion
The June 12th event marked the beginning of a summer filled with stories, adventures, and meaningful moments—rain or shine. For the latest updates, schedules, weekly themes, and locations, check out Camp Read S’more’s Facebook page.
