Two Stanley-Boyd students have been honored as Cloverbelt- Scholar athletes recently, at a banquet held Wednesday April 6, 2022 at the Loyal High School. Carsen Hause, son of Tom and Lynn Hause, and Jessica Hazuga, daughter of Mark and Wendy Hazuga, were the honorees, with the banquet honoring one male student and one female student from each of 17 Cloverbelt schools.

Stanley-Boyd coaches Ryan Wundrow and Alison Becker were also honored at the banquet, being chosen by Hause and Hazuga.

Regarding athletic and academic participation, both Hause and Hazuga have impressive credentials.

As to Hause, the Stanley-Boyd senior has been involved in football and basketball through all four years of high school, also taking up golf from ninth to tenth grade and track from 11th to 12th grade. His clubs and honors from the academic end include involvement with the National Honors Society, FFA FBLA, DECA, S-BAA, Student Council, Math Team, Concert Choir, CTSO, and the FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“My athletic success has driven me to be a better person by becoming a better role model for the youth around me. Sports have also shown me how to work hard and play through adversity,” Hause wrote of how athletic participation has helped him grow both on and off court. “My academic success has created a ot of goals to strive for in the classroom while learning to balance athletics and academics. High school athletics have created great bonds and memories with my coaches and teammates. It has provided me with some great role models and people who I can turn CLOVERBELT

Hause’s future plans are to attend a fouryear university. Currently undecided as to a major, he remains open to many different career paths.

As to Hazuga, the athletic involvement of the Stanley-Boyd senior has included volleyball and basketball through all four years of high school, as well as softball from freshman to junior year.

For academics, she counts being president of the National Honor Society as well as yearbook.

“My athletic and academic successes have helped me grow stronger both mentally and physically,” Hazuga said. “Over the last four years of high school I have learned to persevere through tough situations either on the court or in a classroom. I have learned teamwork, accountability and leadership that I will continue to use in my future career,” she said of the road ahead. Hazuga’s future plans are to attend the University of La Crosse.
