At 1:24 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible drowning with CPR in progress at Kinnickinnic State Park in Clifton Township.
Scene investigation showed that a man identified as Keith Taylor, 66. Cottage Grove, Minn., dove off a diving board of a parked pontoon and did not initially resurface. Scanner traffic indicated the man may have struck his head on a rock.
Family and friends were able to quickly recover Taylor’s body and start life saving measures, which continued after first responders arrived until Taylor was ultimately pronounced deceased while being transported in a helicopter.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Allina EMS, Prescott Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, River Falls Fire Department, and Life Link III.
