Ice fishing is coming to Chapman Lake Saturday Feb. 15.
Sponsored by the Stanley Sportsman’s Club and starting at 10:30 a.m., the 19th annual Chapman Lake Ice Fishing Contest will include fishing fun, raffle prizes, with both adult and youth fishing contests.
As for the adult fishing contest there are five categories, including bluegill, perch, crappie, bass, and northern. First prizes in each category gets $50, second will receive $30, and third place $20. Fish rules are that all fish must be alive when weighed, with the first fish weighted in breaking any tie. Coolers and buckets must be checked and can only win once in each fish category.
A free youth fishing contest will also take place, also with five categories: bluegill, perch, crappie, bass, and northern.
A brat dinner will take place in the community building from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the fishing contest. The dinner cost is $10. Menu items include large brat, baked beans, potato salad, cookie, water, coffee, and soda.
As for cash prizes at the fishing contest they include a grand prize of $1,000 in cash and $1,500 in other cash prizes, including a first prize of $500, second prize of $300, and third prize of $100, with 12 cash prizes of $50 each.
A 50/50 raffle will also be held, with tickets $10 each or 3 for $20. Tickets are available from any Stanley Sportsman’s Club member, Oemig’s Sport Shop, Otter Lake Bait Shop and other local businesses. Tickets will be sold the day of the contest in the beach area on the lake and at the north end of the Community Center building.
All proceeds from the event go to benefit Chapman Park.
