Chippewa County to Host County Conservation Open House

The Chippewa County Wisconsin Conservation Congress Delegates (WCC) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invite the public to attend an open house on Tuesday, April 4 at the Chippewa Falls Senior High School, 755 Terrill Street, Chippewa Falls to learn about resource management in their area.

DNR staff and WCC delegate will be on hand at these open houses to discuss local issues of importance, answer questions from the public, and open a dialogue between the public, the DNR and the WCC about areas of interest and concern.

The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the public can meet and greet and pick up ballots for the 7:00 p.m. elections. At 7:00 p.m., the public will elect two delegates to represent Chippewa County on the WCC. Current delegates include: WCC County Chairman Jim Morning, Bloomer; Vice-Chairman Al Brown, Stanley; General Delegate, Don Dukerschein, Chippewa Falls; Curt Loew, Bloomer; and Kevin Peterson, Cadott. Two of the five WCC seats will be up for election in each county. The Brown and Loew delegate positions are up for this year’s election. To vote in this election, members of the public must be a Chippewa County resident.

A panel discussion with DNR staff and WCC delegates will immediately follow the elections. Each DNR program will provide a brief update on issues/items pertinent to the county. WCC delegates will provide an overview of their work on the WCC and what the organization is all about. Following the panel presentation, there will be an opportunity for the public and panel members to participate in questions and answers. The evening will conclude at 9:00 p.m.
