City closed session on former city administrator

The City of Stanley met Monday, June 29 at 6 p.m. for a special council meeting under Wisconsin state statute 19.85(g) to confer with legal counsel “with respect to oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted in potential litigation involving “employment action” regarding former city administrator Nicole Pilgrim.
Upon exit from closed session, the council then adopted “the recommendation” made in closed session, with motion made by Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons and seconded by Alderperson Laurie Foster. Just what is that recommendation?
“That’s from closed session,” city attorney Jerrilyn Jacobs said when asked for specifics on the matter.
“I can’t discuss that,” Mayor Ben Wald said when asked if the council would revisit the matter.
Pilgrim was hired by the city in late 2020, before being fired late last year after she was put on an improvement plan by the council and public outcry regarding city management and staff resignations, the closed session to fire her taking an extended time period. Pilgrim’s termination as administrator came after she was given three weeks to resign or be fired, decision to terminate made under former Stanley Mayor Mike Henke’s administration.
