With rain and snow blowing in over the weekend, it wasn’t an auspicious day to play outside. As such and pending the weather, baseball and softball games against Durand-Arkansaw were postponed, both at home and away.
In the meantime and as postponement continued Tuesday, April 4 for a baseball game against Greenwood at Greenwood, the Stanley Common Council approved a use agreement for the Chapman Park ball field at its Monday, April 3 meeting.
The agreement, with Nick Mahr listed as the contact person for the district, allows the school to use Chapman Park for baseball practice and games both “until conditions allow” and until renovations are complete at the Oriole Park baseball field. With 35 players along with coaches for practice, Chapman Park is the place to be for baseball games, once things get underway. The boys are scheduled to play a varsity game against Regis at home on Thursday, April 13. Game start is art 5 p.m.
As to softball, A game Tuesday April 6 has been postponed along with that of last Friday, the game to be played against Owen-Withee. The next regularly scheduled softball game is Tuesday, April 11 against Marathon at Marathon High School. Game start is at 4:45 p.m.—pending the weather.
