The Stanley Common Council approved a forensic audit for the period of January 1, 2025 to Feb. 28, 2025 at its March 16 meeting.

The audit to be carried out by Baker Tilly will cost between $40,000 to $50,000 as the city seeks to get a clear picture of its finances. The range is due to Baker Tilly being uncertain of the amount of work involved after the city switched software last year. Special restricted funds were approved for several items, including tourism, EMS, fire truck, K9, police, park improvement through tourism, and fire donations.
Also from Monday, the council moved to reconsider its motion from March 2 regarding a city plow truck, approving a bid from Wisconsin Body and Hoist for $59,451. Other approvals include Jaws of Life and a Chainsaw for the fire department, both electric.
Last for the present council update, the Council voted to issue department heads with city credit cards, something it had previously approved but had not followed through on. The move allows department heads to make purchases on behalf of the city and then submit the receipts to city hall for
“We have competent department heads,” Mayor Mike Henke said before the vote. Motion to approve was made by Wards 4 to 7 and 9 Alderperson Laurie Foster and seconded by Ward 3 Alderperson Therese Metzger.
