Junior guard Carsen Woodcock has been named Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week for his leadership and impact on the Orioles varsity basketball team.
Woodcock has been a steady presence at the guard position throughout his basketball career, a role he’s embraced since he first started playing the game. Although he began playing basketball at a young age, he didn’t enter organized competition until sixth grade. Since then, his commitment and growth have been evident each season.
One of Woodcock’s favorite memories wearing the Orioles uniform dates back to his freshman year, when both he and teammate Troy Haas made game-winning plays. While that moment stands out, Woodcock believes the best memories are still ahead, reflecting his team-first mindset and confidence in what’s to come.
This season, a standout moment for Woodcock came in a key conference matchup against Fall Creek. He described the game as a momentum builder for the team—and he played a major role in that outcome. In the closing moments, Woodcock went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, showing poise under pressure and helping seal the victory.
Varsity coach Dakota Nichols, who nominated Woodcock, praised his impact both on and off the court:
“Carsen has shown great leadership, effort, and impact on the team. He consistently gives 100% in practice, supports his teammates, and embraces his role as one of the first players off the bench. In a huge conference matchup against Fall Creek, Carsen delivered in the clutch, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the closing moments to help seal the victory. His energy, selflessness, and poise elevate those around him and truly take our team to the next level.”
Woodcock credits much of his basketball journey to the support of his dad and brother, who have been his biggest inspirations along the way.
Whether it’s his hustle in practice or clutch performances in big moments, Carsen Woodcock continues to make a meaningful impact for the Orioles. Congratulations to Carsen on being named Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week.
