Whether he's delivering strikes from the mound or lifting up his teammates in the dugout, Stanley-Boyd senior Dawson Ewer is a force both on and off the field. Named this week’s Athlete of the Week, Ewer is known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and positive attitude. He picked up the sport as a freshman and quickly found his place.
“My favorite part about baseball is playing with my friends,” Ewer said, a simple statement that speaks volumes about his team-first mentality. One of his favorite memories as an Oriole came when he pitched a complete seven-inning game—an achievement that not only marked a personal highlight, but also showcased his grit and determination.

Head coach Ryan Sturm has high praise for Ewer: “He is the hardest worker on my team, and he has a great attitude. He is willing to help anyone on the team and he loves his teammates. Dawson is our ‘ace’ and a good hitter, but I am most proud of his character and how he conducts himself on and off the field.”
He added, “When times are tough, he is always encouraging others and that is a testament to the kind of man he is.”

After graduation, Ewer plans to attend Chippewa Valley Technical College or the Advanced Welding Institute to pursue a career in welding. As he looks ahead to the future, his time on the diamond has left a lasting impression—both on his teammates and the Stanley-Boyd community. Dawson Ewer’s perseverance and leadership continue to set the standard for what it means to wear the Stanley-Boyd uniform.
