Senior sprinter and relay standout Madden Mahr has been named Stanley-Boyd's Athlete of the Week following a dominant performance at the Western Cloverbelt Conference Championships. Madden clinched victories in both the 100-meter dash (11.01) and the 200-meter dash (22.86), setting season-best times in both events. He also anchored the 4x100-meter relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 44.37.
Coach Braxton Thompson praised Madden's contributions, stating that Mahr's efforts were instrumental in the team's strong showing at that conference meet.
"Madden's dominating performance truly helped put our boys team into conference runner-up." He added, “We wish Madden the best of luck as he continues to pursue his athletic and academic goals at the collegiate level.”
Mahr's passion for track and field is deeply rooted in his family history. "I joined track because my family has been running track and I also wanted to get faster for my other sports," he explained. When asked what he enjoys most about the sport, he added, “I enjoy going out and competing against the best.”
Mahr competes in multiple events, including the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, and long jump but his favorite is the 100m. Among his notable accomplishments, he holds the school records in the 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay, and the conference record in the 200m.
Madden Mahr's remarkable achievements this season underscore his dedication and athletic prowess. As he transitions to collegiate athletics, his legacy at Stanley-Boyd High School will undoubtedly inspire future generations of athletes. The Stanley-Boyd community eagerly anticipates his continued success and the impact he will make at the next level.
