Stanley-Boyd senior Caleb Westrom is a bright spot for the Stanley-Boyd football team this season, standing out with his explosive athleticism and determination. Whether on offense, defense, or special teams, Westrom has consistently made key plays that energize his teammates and set the tone for the Orioles.
Earlier this season, Westrom delivered a breakout performance that showcased his all-around ability. “Senior Caleb Westrom totaled three touchdowns for the team in Saturday's 49-0 victory at Neillsville/Granton,” said head coach Brody Mahr. “Westrom finished with 63 yards and one touchdown rushing for a Stanley-Boyd team that rushed for more than 300 yards. The senior also caught a 32-yard touchdown and returned an 89-yard fumble for a score. Caleb is an explosive athlete that makes plays on offense, defense and special teams. He has been a spark plug that our team needed to open things up.”
For Westrom, football isn’t just a game — it’s something that’s been part of his life from the start. “I started playing football when I was very young and I just felt natural with the sport,” he said. “My dad encouraged and helped me along the way. I started off playing running back and that is what I still play today as well as outside linebacker.”
That family connection is what continues to drive him. “My dad is definitely my inspiration for continuing to play,” Westrom said. “The stories he used to tell me about him playing high school ball made me want to be just like him, he was always just a huge inspiration to me and definitely made me the ball player I am today.”
Before each game, Westrom likes to keep things simple. “Typically I just listen to some music before games,” he said. His favorite matchup is always a local rivalry: “I would say my favorite game to play is always Regis, it’s always a good fight.”
When asked about moments that stand out, one memory comes easily. “A moment from this season that I’ll never forget is that first touchdown run,” he said. But what really matters to him are the connections with his teammates. “Favorite memory with my teammates is definitely just clicking on defense and getting hyped and making big hits.”
As his senior season winds down, Westrom’s dedication, leadership, and love for the game have left a lasting impression on Stanley-Boyd football. Whether he’s breaking tackles, firing up the sideline, or getting the crowd roaring with excitement, Caleb Westrom continues to embody what it means to be an Oriole — playing with heart, passion, and pride.
