For Goebel, basketball has been an important part of his life since middle school. “I started playing in 5th grade and I watched college basketball with my family,” he said, explaining what first sparked his interest in the sport.
One of his favorite memories in an Orioles uniform came last season. “The team winning the game before regionals last year, pretty big moment and it was an experience,” Goebel said.
Connor has been a consistent presence in the post for the Orioles. “I played center throughout the years as a big and that really hasn't changed,” he said, showing his reliability and willingness to embrace his role on the team.
When asked who has inspired and supported him the most, Goebel pointed to his mom. “She has always supported me and pushed me harder to be stronger mentally and physically. She's always been my backbone and I always appreciate her.”
Goebel’s competitive mindset is clear when talking about this season. “My favorite game is the next win,” he said, showing his focus on continual improvement and success.
Looking beyond high school, Goebel has a clear plan for his future which includes becoming a union electrician.
