Stanley-Boyd freshman Amanda Lew has made an immediate impact on the Orioles basketball court this season, stepping into a starting role and proving herself as a versatile and dynamic player. From a young age, Lew has been connected to the game. “I first started playing basketball when I was 4 and my siblings were playing so I played as well,” she said.
Lew’s ability to contribute in multiple areas has been key for the Orioles. She typically plays the small forward position but has experience all over the court, showcasing her adaptability.

One of Lew’s most memorable moments this season came during a high-stakes playoff game. “My favorite game was the Hayward game for the regional semifinals because it was very intense and we were able to show our skills to the number 2 seed,” she said. Off the court, some of her favorite memories are just as meaningful. “My favorite memory is on the bus to the away games we had,” she added.

Lew’s coaches have taken notice of her strong performance throughout the season. JV coach Karyn Nitz praised Lew’s defensive instincts and all-around play. “Coming in as a freshman starter, Amanda shows great strength in her ability to read the court on defense. She often creates turnovers for the other team, turning them into fast breaks for a couple easy points,” Nitz said. “She also is known for her offensive ability to hit some 3s from the outside and creates opportunities for teammates by assisting in their points. Glad to have her on the team!”
At the varsity level, head coach Ryan Wundrow said Lew has made the most of her opportunities. “Amanda Lew has taken advantage of her extra playing time. She had 19 points vs. Colby and 15 vs. Northwestern in our playoff win,” Wundrow said. “Since moving to the starting lineup she has averaged almost 9 points and 7 rebounds a game. She has also been one of our best 3-point shooters over that time at 32%. She is fast and explosive and always a threat to snag a steal and turn it into a layup.” He added that Lew is a highly coachable player with an outstanding attitude who has shown tremendous improvement throughout the year.

Lew stays active year-round, also participating in volleyball, softball, and FCCLA, while continuing to grow as a multi-sport athlete within the Stanley-Boyd community. She credits her family as her biggest supporters. “My parents have inspired and supported me the most throughout my journey and they are always there for me while pushing me to be my best at the same time,” she said.
With a strong freshman season behind her and a bright future ahead, Amanda Lew is quickly establishing herself as a key contributor for the Stanley-Boyd Orioles. Her work ethic and versatility continue to set the tone for what promises to be an exciting career.
