Stanley-Boyd junior Allison Patten has grown into a standout member of the Stanley-Boyd high school archery team, demonstrating dedication and resilience throughout her journey.
Patten first discovered archery after being introduced to the sport in gym class. What started as a simple curiosity quickly turned into a passion. “I started archery my freshman year and I was inspired to try the sport after first trying it in gym class and thinking that it would be cool to try,” she said—and that decision has paid off as she continues to develop her skills.
Like many athletes, Patten has faced challenges along the way. She noted that refining her release and form has been an ongoing process. Through perseverance, she has worked through those difficulties by listening closely to her coaches and continuing to improve.
One of the aspects she values most about archery is the sense of community it fosters. “I enjoy the camaraderie among archers from all schools,” Patten shared. “When you are struggling, other archers will come try to help you.” That support from others has made a lasting impact on her experience in the sport.
When asked about a standout moment this season, Patten didn’t point to a score or a medal, but to a memory with her team. “This season the moment that stands out the most is when we were on our way back from the State tournament and all the archers were having fun and talking, just having a good time ,” she shared.
This year, Patten has a clear goal in mind: shooting a personal record of 275 or higher. With the progress she’s made, that milestone is well within reach.
Behind her success is a strong support system. Patten credits her parents as her biggest supporters, noting their consistent presence at tournaments and their encouragement throughout her and her brother’s archery journey.
Outside of archery, Patten stays busy as well. She was recently accepted into the FFA Honors Chorus and will perform with other Stanley-Boyd students at the FFA State Convention and the Wisconsin State Fair this summer
As the Stanley-Boyd middle and high school archery teams prepare to compete at the national tournament in Kentucky May 7th-9th, Allison Patten will look to carry her momentum forward on a bigger stage. With her work ethic and positivity, she is a great example of what it means to be a Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week.
