This week, Adyson Gustafson is recognized as the Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week—a dedicated senior whose speed and team spirit have left a lasting mark on the Stanley-Boyd track and field program.
Gustafson’s love for running started early. She participated in cross country throughout middle school and joined the track team her freshman year, bringing energy and talent from the start. “I joined track because I enjoyed running as I was a part of the cross country team throughout middle school,” she said.
Since then, Gustafson has become a key competitor in a variety of events, including the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, long jump, and three relays: the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400.
“My favorite part about track is getting to run with my friends and watching everyone become better as the season progresses,” she said. She added, “My favorite events that I competed in are the 4x100 and the 4x200 because I get to run with some of my friends and it makes me want to run harder, another plus to these races is we have broken the school record in both.”

Gustafson’s competitive success is impressive. She has earned several victories in the 400-meter dash, and her relay teams—the 4x100 and 4x200—have consistently taken top spots this season.
“Adyson won the 4x200 (1:50.54), placed 4th in the 4x400 (4:51.37), 6th in the 400M (1:07.34), and 8th in long jump (14'4"),” said Coach Braxton Thompson. “Ady has been a very important part of our team every year she's competed, and these performances prove it. Points add up and scoring well in all of her events certainly help our team place higher at our conference meet.”
As Gustafson wraps up her senior season, she’ll be making one final appearance on the track—her 4x200 relay team, along with teammates Lula Chwala, Macie LaGrander, and Jocelyn Hager, is headed to the WIAA State Track & Field Championships in Lacrosse. The relay squad has had a strong season and qualifying for state is a testament to their hard work and chemistry on the track.
Thompson added, “We’ll miss her next year and wish her the best in college next year.”

Gustafson’s combination of talent, effort, and heart make her a true standout and a valued member of the team. Congratulations to Adyson Gustafson, this week’s Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week!
